An entire family or an entire file can be copied to the clipboard. To do this, make sure that the family or file to copy is selected, then select right-click > Copy.

Copying and pasting a family or a file has advantages. When creating a family or file with very similar data to the data being copied, you can paste the copy, change the name of the family or file, and make edits to the data. This saves time and trouble creating the family or file, and populating all the different views (Definition, Center line Attributes, etc.)

As with copying family members, families retain the file information about their parents during a copy operation.
